O’Neill opens Exxon office
The National, Friday February 26th, 2016
PRIME Minister Peter O’Neill opened a new office for the PNG LNG Project, ExxonMobil PNG Ltd and Mobil Oil New Guinea at 7-Mile in Port Moresby on Wednesday.
The office will serve as the company’s headquarters for all its operations in the country and builds on PNG LNG’s US$18.8 billion (K57 billion) investment in the country.
ExxonMobil PNG managing director Andrew Barry said the office was more than bricks and mortar.
“This building exemplifies the core values that ExxonMobil PNG and the PNG LNG Project stand for – safety, security, environment, integrity, excellence and teamwork,” Barry said.
“It demonstrates our commitment to running our operations to the highest of standards and our desire to provide an environment that further develops our local workforce, which is 80 per cent Papua New Guinean.
“The office is also scalable as ExxonMobil PNG and our co-ventures seek to grow our business in Papua New Guinea.”
The office is built to international standards for energy efficiency and environmental management, consistent with ExxonMobil PNG’s approach during construction of the PNG LNG project.
Features include the use of solar panels to supplement gas heating for hot water and motion sensors and timers controlling lighting to reduce energy consumption. Recycled water is also used for irrigation purposes in the gardens and sports field.
