PRIME Minister Peter O’Neill says a new ministry will be created to be responsible for religious affairs.
During the launching of a new church building project at the Korobosea Seventh-Day Adventist church in the National Capital District, he said the government and churches must have a good and close working partnership so that they could efficiently deliver services to the people.
“In appreciating the significant contribution by churches in the country the government will create the new ministry responsible for religious affairs,’’ he said.
“This ministry will strengthen the partnership between the government and the churches and ensure that funds put aside for church initiative projects can be utilised.”
He said churches played important roles in a wide range of areas including health and education and the new ministry would enhance the efficient and direct service delivery to the people.
