LYDIA Lisa Dimokari, 28, from Milne Bay has been selected to join the Obama Foundation Leaders Asia-Pacific programme aimed at training participants in leadership development and community engagement.
Lydia is the programme manager for Kokoda Training Foundation (KTF), an international aid nonprofit where she coordinates all programmes related to education, health, leadership, equality, and livelihoods in the country.
According to a statement from the Obama Foundation, Lydia is a strong advocate for Papua New Guinea’s youth and brings their views to the forefront of crucial discussions.
“Her vision for Papua New Guinea is a society where children can walk freely in the streets without fear of being hurt and where families and communities live free of all types of violence,” the foundation said.
“Lydia will be taking part in this programme among the 35 emerging leaders across 23 countries.
“As part of the six-month, non-residential programme, these dedicated change-makers will convene virtually each week for interactive sessions designed to help them drive change by improving their leadership skills, building deep relationships with their peers, and engaging with leaders and members of the Obama Foundation community.”
