Obura-Wonenara hospital left hanging
The National, Thursday February 12th, 2015
THE ground breaking ceremony for Obura-Wonenara district hospital was held early last year at Kassam Health Centre by Governor Julie Soso and MP Mehrra Minne Kipefa.
Since then, much was said about it over the media.
However, to date, there was close to no work to indicate its progress.
The only evidence of work done on the site is fencing and ground work done by grader to level the drains.
Many people are watching as the location of the site is along Highlands Highway and time is now our greatest enemy as the clock is ticking down.
The local MP made sweet talks over how the hospital would be managed and has gone into hiding since the ground breaking ceremony.
Does that mean that the district has not got any money to kick start this project?
We read in both dailies and on social media about Mehrra Minne coaching the so-called rugby league team O-Wan Titans to almost all competitions in the country.
He even took this team to Australia, sleep in expensive hotels to part-take in one of the local competitions down south.
The players including team officials and doctors are all put on payroll and the hotels they sleep in are paid for.
Where does he get all the money to fund this team?
I hope the district money was not misused to benefit urban minority whilst rural majority are suffering and dying from curable diseases.
