PEOPLE in most parts of the country should expect rain in the evenings this week, according to the PNG National Weather Office.
Acting director Jimmy Gomoga attributed it to a weak atmospheric wave passing through the country this week.
“We will be expecting weak atmospheric waves passing through so that may cause some rainfall,” he said.
“So we are expecting rain this week and the following week.
“We should be expecting scattered showers and rain areas across most parts of the country.”
Gomoga said the country was well into the dry season and the wind had already reached its peak.
“We should be expecting winds to be very strong for the rest of this month,” he said.
“The driest month is August but the winds are at its peak.
“The signs are weakening otherwise we have strong wind warnings across the country, along the Papua-Indonesian border right up to Samarai in Milne Bay,” Gomoga said.
