Office imposing new fees

THE Censorship Office will be imposing new fees and charges and payments are to be made directly to their account, says chief censor.
Chief censor Jim Abani said this yesterday during an awareness workshop on the revised fees and charges by the office of censorship board in Port Moresby.
The increases are significant, some charges going up from K15 to K50 and K100.
Abani said the workshop was about information sharing and doing awareness on the new fees and charges that the Government had directed them to implement.
Abani said for the last 10 years the fees had remained the same and now it was time for changes.
He said the Covid-19 was not the cause of the increase in the fees and charges.
“It’s all about reforms in terms for the last 10 years, maybe some of the government departments have never changed since 1975. The fees have been the same,” he said.
“For us it took us 10 years to change the fees.
“For business houses, you have increased your fees on the services you provide for your clients.
“Government fees are fees that are fixed that stays there for a few years before we change.
“And today, it is time for us to inform you all that come Jan 4, 2021, there is going to be new fees for you to pay,” Abani said.

  • Censorship office, please do note that when you increase your charges up to 3 to 6 times the original rates, the affected business houses will increase their service fees to the public. Who’s gonna be affected? The ordinary people of Papua New Guinea! Don’t you think the new rates to this service providers is too much? Why the huge jump all of a sudden?? You will only create more issues to the business investors and the public!!
