SIR Michael Ogio remains the Governor-General of Papua New Guinea, according to his office.
It also said a motion in parliament orchestrated by Peter O’Neill’s faction to suspend Sir Michael as governor-general “is of no effect”.
The office said the Somare government was recognised as legitimate as per Monday’s Supreme Court decision.
“Therefore, the O’Neill regime has no legitimacy to make any decisions from parliament or government.
“The Supreme Court had interpreted the Constitution and ruled that the formation of the O’Neill-Namah government was unconstitutional,” officials said.
