Officer allegedly abused daughter

AN Air Niugini traffic supervisor at the Goroka airport was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting his eldest daughter, who was to sitting for her Grade 10 final examinations last week.
Goroka police apprehended Thomas Koral, 44, of Tambul district in Western Highlands province, last Thursday after the victim and her mother laid a complaint at the Goroka police station following a referral by the women and children’s advocate, Family Voice in Goroka.
Koral, represented by Stevens Lawyers, appeared before the Goroka District Court magistrate Martin Ipang yesterday who adjourned the case to a later date to give police time to complete their court files to press other charges.
The accused was remanded in custody after bail was refused.
The court was told that the suspect had sexually assaulted his daughter on three different occasions in Goroka this year, on April 14 and 15, and Oct 7.Koral is charged under section 6(3) of the Summary Offences Act (SOA). He pleaded not guilty.
Police told the court they might also charge him under the Criminal Code and the Sexual Offences Act.
