EAST New Britain has a major role to make all its districts and LLGs aware of the tourism potential it has and what can be done to realise it, says Donna Saulep from the provincial tourism authority.

She highlighted this during the provincial 2014 budget implementation consultative workshop for public servants at the Gazelle district on Tuesday.

“The exciting thing for ENB is that it has been announced as the tourism hub for PNG but we need to understand what it means,’’ Saulep said.

“Tourism is part of the economic sector or activities that people can get into to drive the economy, tourists and how we can capture the tourist dollar or foreign currency. At the end of the day it is all about generating money.”

She questioned how the province could benefit from using its resources to actually get involved or get the community involved in the tourism industry.
