Officer: Enrolment exercise to be conducted

THE enrolment exercise for Bougainvilleans living outside Bougainville will start soon, says the Acting Commissioner of the Autonomous Bougainville Government Electoral Commission, George Manu.
Manu said the Papu New Guinea Electoral Commission would help them to carry out this exercise.
“The enrolments will be conducted in the major towns, including Port Moresby, Lae, Rabaul and in the mining townships. PNG electoral commission is ready to conduct the enrolments but I will go and confirm again with Commissioner Andrew Trawen on their assistance,” he said.
Manu said there was still enough time to get all Bougainvilleans enrolled. “The commission is aiming to have all Bougainvilleans enrolled so that they are able to cast their votes in the 2015 ABG general election.”
He said during the polling period, that they would send about seven teams to conduct polling in major towns and mining townships. Meanwhile, the electoral rolls data entry exercise is set to start this weekend. following the arrival of computers.
ABGEC is only awaiting the arrival of a PNGEC IT specialist to install the computers before data entry will start.
