THE policeman who was killed in a road accident on Pari Road in Port Moresby last Wednesday has been identified as Const Matthew Yamba, 30, from Kagua, in Southern Highlands.
Gulf provincial police commander Heni Vagi confirmed that Yamba was based at the Kerema police station at the time of his death.
“Two other people are recovering at the Port Moresby General Hospital but we are yet to identify them,” Vagi said.
He said the deceased had been married to a Kerema woman and they had four children.
National Capital District operations chief Andy Bawa last Wednesday said the victim and other passengers were returning from Pari village when their vehicle overturned.
Vagi said Yamba’s body would be taken to Kerema, where a guard of honour would be staged.
He said the casket would return to Port Moresby and later flown to Mt Hagen and transported by road to Kagua.
