THE late Chief Inspector Heni Vagi, who was the Central provincial police commander, was buried in his home village at Porebada, a few kilometres outside Port Moresby yesterday.

He is survived by his wife Kathy and eight children.

Vagi was 41 when he died of a suspected heart attack last month.

He was accorded a 21-gun salute by his comrades of the Central Provincial Police units.

Constabulary members and fellow villagers, had flocked to pay respect.

He was buried on his own land where the family lives and members of the police force in Central command, colleagues, relatives and friends attended the funeral.

His uncle, Vagi Heni, who read the eulogy during the service at the Porebada Emmanuel United Church, said Vagi was a bright student at secondary school where he had been one who had topped the Grade 12 exams in physics.

“He completed his education in many parts of the country because he travelled with his parents,” he said.
