JIWAKA provincial police commander Supt Joseph Tondop has condemned an attack by drunkards on police officers on Tuesday night.
The attack happened on the Awi market section of the Highlands Highway as Tondop was leading a police team on a patrol.
He said his vehicle was stoned at around 2am Wednesday by youths as officers were looking for those drinking homebrew.
Tondop met community leaders early that morning to relay his disappointment at what happened.
He said it spoiled the good work by community leaders and councillors who had been helping police maintain law and order.
He asked them to identify the culprits and bring them to the police station.
