ASST Comm of Police (ACP), human resource, Sylvester Kalaut has been suspended for 21 days three consecutive times as investigations into allegations made against him of insubordination and misappropriation continue.
Comm David Manning said that it was “just the process” and he (Kalaut) had to be put on a 21-day suspension three times to allow the Finance Department time to carry out audits.
ACP Kalaut was first suspended on Jan 2-22, for insubordination after he asked Comm Manning to provide a gazettal notice for his appointment.
He was suspended a second time for 21 days and then again, recently.
Comm Manning said the suspensions were necessary to allow investigations to be done and completed.
Meanwhile, Comm Manning also said that Deputy Commander Highlands Eastern End ACP Benjamin Turi, a former NCD Met Supt, was arrested on Monday on four allegations, including causing grievous bodily harm.
“There was a case from back in 2016 and all the officers that were called before the court alleged that they had been only acting under orders and the court therefore, called for the arrest of the person giving orders at the time and Turi was therefore arrested,” Manning said.
“But it’s before the courts now,” he said.

  • Manning is scared because he is sitting on a chair that Kalaut supposed to sit. Manning was elevated to top post through heavy involvement of politics especially Police Minister. If on merit base, no doubt at all Mr Kalaut ticked all the boxes. Its an eye opener and a surprise to see an ordinary police officer promoted to commissioner.
Anyway I don’t have to elaborate further but I guess papua new guineans know the answer.
Manning will try every means to get rid of Kalaut because Kalaut is a threat to him and his starting it now.

  • Politicians are the greatest treat to the prosperity of this country. Followed by the people they appoint. Most are selfish, self serving, Self centered hypocrites.
