TWO officers each from the 87 active village court sites in Morobe are now on the payroll after being put off pay in 2016.
Morobe village courts and land mediation officer Ringwaku Sedrick said four of the 11 officials from each of the active village courts were put off pay as per a notice from the Department of Justice and Attorney-General in 2016.
“The department issued a notice in 2016 to put four of the officers’ off payroll,” he said.
“Active village courts have 11 officers and of the 11, two are now put back on payroll.
“They are to come to the office (provincial village courts and land mediation) to update their account details.”
Sedrick said there were only nine officials over the last five years.
“We now have officer numbers boosted with two peace officers being put on pay again,” he said.
