TWENTY-SIX officers of the three disciplined forces completed three weeks of public order management training on Friday.
Commanding officer of the PNG Defence Force First Battalion Royal Pacific Island Regiment at Taurama Barracks, Lt-Col Boniface Aruma, said during the closing ceremony at the McGregor Training Centre that training was important to empower officers to be able to deliver their responsibilities during and beyond the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Summit.
“It (the training) is invaluable as it is not something that will prepare you for Apec, but also other activities that will come after Apec,” he said.
Aruma said the programme covered course components of public order management low level tactics, street dispersal tactics, building tactics, delivery of hand-held ammunitions such as CS gas and stun grenades and defensive tactics against petrol bombs.
