THE Papua New Guinea Defence Force needs  leaders who can carry out their work professionally, PNGDF Commander Brig-Gen Gilbert Toropo says.

Speaking during the promotion of two senior officers yesterday by the Defence Council at Murray Barracks following approval by the National Executive Council last week, Toropo said this would add to the capacity of the PNGDF to perform its constitutional duties properly.

The two officers promoted were Commander Philip Kaski Polewara, who was promoted to the rank of captain as Chief of Training, and Lt-Col Alfred Kayoka to the rank of Colonel.

“When we have right leaders in the different levels, we will achieve our set priorities,” Toropo said.
