Officers get training to improve work

FOURTEEN police officers in the National Capital District were awarded certificates for completing a two-day refresher training on the roles and responsibilities of supervisors in Port Moresby.
Regional training officer Senior Inspector Paul Kipak said the training was to improve the performance of officers in the city’s stations as daily management of personnel was an issue.
Kipak said that was the first refresher training held and it would continue to run till November.
He said more training needed to be done to avoid criticism and complains from the public and even from the courts.
“Met Supt has observed that supervisors are not doing their job properly especially supervising the men and women on the ground which results in a lot of issues with our members and called for the training,” Kipak said.
“The training is on the roles and responsibilities of supervisors to ensure they manage their men to perform accordingly and to get their members to do their jobs professionally.
“My encouragement is to the supervisors and PSCs to select their men and send them for training so that we improve the performance of our men and women,” Kipak said.
