Officers set goals at workshop

A GROUP of PNG Customs Service officials attended a workplace performance workshop to align their work plan to achieve their goals.

Assistant commissioner northern region Francis Nipuru said workplace performance was a crucial element in the daily functions of the body.

“The result of the workplace performance was to ensure sectional heads and managers realise and understand their job descriptions, ethics, manners and conduct,” Nipuru said.

Port managers from Lae, Basamuk, Madang, Vidar, Wewak, Vanimo, Wutung border post and Mt Hagen attended the three-day workshop.

It was chaired by Nipuru and facilitated by deputy commissioner regional operations John Pomoso. 

The purpose of the workshop was to align the PNGCS plan (2013-2017) with work plan and workforce performance so that sectional heads, managers and supervisors realise their roles and responsibilities including reporting increase in development activities.

The main priority areas for the next five years is to streamline and realign the organisational structure, improve channels of decision-making and communication and modernise legislative and instructional collection for training officers.
