Officers suspended

 TWO senior finance officers have been suspended for insubordination, Finance Minister James Marape said.

He said in a statement yesterday instructions had been issued to the department not to entertain any payments but a few senior officers had defied this directive and thus had been disciplined for it.

Marape said he was disappointed with Finance Secretary Steven Gibson for not following the directives and allowing senior officers to authorise payments to a company.

“A few senior finance officers have been suspended for not following instructions and I warn the secretary and other senior officers to follow every instruction that is given,” he said.
