POLICE and prison officers have been told to be properly dressed when on duty.

The warning came from Kimbe resident judge Justice Ellenas Batari during the opening of the 2014 legal year in Kimbe.

“Discipline starts with the way you dress to go about and conduct your day to day responsibilities in enforcing law and order and rehabilitating law breakers,” he said.

“It’s not only your behaviour and performance that will reflect the image of your respective organisations, but how you are dressed.”

He said it was bad to see members of law enforcement agencies not dressed properly during important occasions because they were the ones who should be setting the standard on dressing, performance and discipline.

Batari called on prison and police authorities to address the issue.

“Law and order is of great importance to our society and those tasked with enforcing and maintaining it must do so with pride, loyalty and commitment,” he said.
