POLICE officers have again been reminded to follow the constabulary’s rules and regulations they had sworn an oath of allegiance to.
Assistant Commissioner of Police administration Joan Clarkson, relaying a message from Police Commissioner David Manning in a parade to mark Police Remembrance Day, said those who continued to display a lack of discipline, loyalty and professionalism must change.
“We must know that this is not the place for people to come in and try to act on their own without observing the institution’s laws,” Clarkson said.
She said those who continued to do so were the ones who were tarnishing the image of the police force and those who had served and passed on in the line of duty.
“Don’t wait for tomorrow to change,” she said.
“The time for change is now.
“You must change or you will be left behind.
“The police force will move forward and will continue in that direction.”
Candles were lit in memory of the nine who passed away in the past year.
ACP Clarkson challenged policewomen on parade to critically think of what they would be doing as a police officer, mother and woman in the community.

  • I hope Police Remembrance Day in celebrated everyday in Lae’s Top town so that an effort is made everyday to drain the ‘lake’ that builds up in front of the Police station during rainy season. It looks refreshing without the ‘lake’ yesterday afternoon after someone decided to clear it up by cleaning up the drains and letting the ‘lake’ subside. Why couldn’t this be done a long time ago instead of waiting for such a day as Police Remembrance Day to do it.
