East Sepik’s acting provincial administrator Elizabeth Kaprangi welcomed more than 200 women to the Second Royal Pacific Island Regiment (2RPIR) at Moem Barracks in Wewak on Monday for a convention.
The women are wives of Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF) soldiers from seven establishments in the country.
They marched into the barracks to mark the opening of the fifth Military Wives Convention which started on Monday and will end tomorrow.
The convention was a PNGDF- endorsed activity which brings together military spouses for a fellowship and to share ideas, skills and information.
Moem Barracks Military Wives Committee Deborah patron Opa said the event was being hosted outside Port Moresby for the first time.
Speakers raised health and welfare issues.
