AN official of the Consultative Implementation and Monitoring Council is in the United States attending a professional development programme for managers of non-government organisations .
Mary Boni was selected by the US embassy in Port Moresby to take part in the international visitor leadership programme on NGO management which began on Monday and ends on March 23.
Boni was selected based on her long involvement with NGOs in PNG, including the environment and climate change policy with the PNG Eco Forestry and now CIMC.
Boni is responsible at CIMC for designing programmes that assist with its goal to ensure that dialogue, through the ongoing consultation processes, is sustained between the government, private sector and the community.
She is attending the programme with officials from 16 countries. They will meet NGO representatives in Washington DC, Missouri, New Mexico, Massachusetts and New York.
She will explore how to strengthen leadership, engage volunteers, use technology and social media, fundraise, and progressing an organisation’s mission.
