AN Australian security company supervisor has been charged with sexually touching a local woman on Manus Island, according to Manus police commander Chief Inspector David Yapu.
Police in Manus charged the suspect for allegedly touching the female worker at her workplace at Lorengau.
Yapu said the 59-year-old from Brisbane worked as a security supervisor for Paladin Security Company.
Police alleged that between 5pm and 6pm one day last month, the victim was at her workplace at the Seeadler Bay Hotel as a dinner attendant with Paladin.
She walked past the suspect who was standing in a queue to be served dinner.
As the victim walked past, the suspect reached out and grabbed the victim’s buttock and squeezed it.
The victim felt embarrassed as there were other locals and expatriates there at the time.
She reported the matter to the security company’s management but no action was taken so she reported the matter to police last Wednesday.
Yapu directed CID investigations into the allegation and the suspect was arrested and charged.
He was in custody.
Yapu said there were similar allegations against the man by another victim who was yet to be located by police and interviewed.
