Official: Jail facilities need to be upgraded

 CORRECTIONAL Services acting commissioner Michael Waipo is urging officers to support their requests for improvement to infrastructure with relevant information and data.

He said some old prison facilities and infrastructure badly needed renovation.

“We cannot just sit and talk about it. We need to document things then seek assistance from higher up.” 

“Some institutions have few improvements, the rest still have old infrastructure.

“We can’t just go and knock on the door and ask for funding. That would be improper for us.

“We need to provide facts to justify what we need before we ask so that the government can see how to help us.”

He said officers should not shift the blame on others.
