Official: Learn more about PNG literature

National

NATIONAL Library and Archives director Kakaito Kasi has urged people to know more about PNG literature with other countries.
Kakaito said this at the recent opening of the project “Days of Russian culture in Papua New Guinea” at the National Library and Archives in Port Moresby.
He said the National Library and Archives would soon have a Russian corner commemorating the ties between both countries.
Those historical ties were established 150 years ago (late 1800s).
“We are living in a global world where we need to share contacts, create relationships and experience new cultures,” he said.
The project is supported by the Miklouho-Maclay Foundation, the Russian ministry of culture and the Russian Cultural Foundation.
Director and founder of the Miklouho-Maclay Foundation Nickolay Miklouho-Maclay said the main objective of the project was to introduce and promote Russian culture in PNG and to create a better understanding and appreciation of Russia among Papua New Guineans.
