WESTERN provincial administrator Gull Gorgom has commended the Government for approving projects worth K400 million for the province.
He said among the infrastructure projects were two bridges that will link the North Fly, Middle Fly and South Fly districts.
Gorgom said this was an initiative of suspended North Fly MP Boka Kondra.
He said the Drimgas Fly River bridge and Ningerum Ok Tedi River bridge would enable people in the area to have better access to basic services and markets.
“It has been a long time. We need to open up the province and these bridges are a very important piece of transport facility for the province that will open up all three districts of the province,” Gorgom said.
“You can use this bridge to now cross the rivers and connect with Middle Fly and South Fly.
“It has now reached the stage where the province is going to be open for the purpose of mobility for people in the markets, schools and health services to the main centres.
“It will open up the livelihood of the people and their welfare.”
He said the projects would boost the standard of living in Western.
