SOCIAL media is affecting awareness and the Coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccination programmes in the country, Enga administrator Dr Samson Amean says.
Dr Amean believes there is so much hard work and efforts put in to reduce the spread of the virus, but social media had become an obstacle by sending out wrong and false information to the public.
He said Enga was progressing well with its Covid-19 programmes, including vaccination, but, they faced a lot of challenges from the social media.
Dr Amean said information was the only way awareness could be driven to the people, but, some smart ones had come with their predictions about the Covid-19 vaccines and the pandemic itself through social media platforms.
He said Enga had started its campaign last year for three months with Governor Sir Peter Ipatas, on the ground to support the programmes.
Dr Amean, who is also the chairman of the provincial Covid-19 committee, said people had been made aware of the situation but some still did not understand what was a happening in the country.
“Enga, we are doing everything we can to help the people and the province from this pandemic,” he said.
“Enga is one of the 10 hotspot provinces in the country and we will do everything to bring this issue under control.”
