Official says Tvet brings opportunity
THE Technical Vocational Education Training School is a pathway for students to complete their degree programme in Universities and colleges, says an official.
European Union Country Manager John Kuri said the formal education system is not the only way to University as Tvet provides that opportunity, when addressing the community and students of Guruma Tvet Centre in Youngumul, Chimbu.
He said requirement for TVET students to be eligible to apply higher institutions was to complete National Certificates (NC) one to six.
“When you complete your National Certificate 1-6, you are eligible to apply to Universities and Colleges in the Country. All you need to do is to focus on what courses you are majoring in your Tvet schools and complete the NC1-6,” he said.
Kuri said regardless of the remoteness of Tvet schools, EU has still managed to assist schools in rural areas in provinces and Guruma Tvet Centre in Youngumul, Chimbu, was one of the lucky recipient.
He said EU wants to provide an equal opportunity for youths and young people in rural parts of PNG to choose a pathway that equips them.
