Official: Teachers should be back in class

ALL teachers should resume classes as there are no proper discussion for you (teachers) to withdraw your services in 2021, an official says.
PNG Teachers Association (PNGTA) national president Aita Sanangkepe said PNGTA national committee and administration was concerned about the media-released information that teachers would withdraw their services next year.
“We never had any discussion with Public Employees Associations executive of such issues for teachers.”
Sanangkepe said teachers had their own organisation called PNGTA that has the ultimate authority to release such news and no other unions or industrial bodies had any legal mandate to disclose such sensitive information.
“We know that teachers and employees in the country are not properly paid and it is a big issue and we must all come together at the round table discussion to address the issue,” he said.
Sanangkepe said despite the politics or economy issues, childrens’ learning was a very important integral part of human development for this country.
And teachers were vested with the spirit of good will to give their time in developing, grooming and modelling a person’s life.
Sanangkepe said the sensitivity and nature of the news could bring chaos to the start of the school next year.
“I want to make this clear to the teachers – resume your classes,” he said.
“The PNGTA with its executives know your problems and we will deal with it accordingly when the time is right.”
Sanangkepe said if PEA president could make this clear to the public on whose authority that teachers would withdraw their services next year.
