TEACHERS training and development is important as they will share their knowledge with their students, a head teacher says.
New Erima Primary School head teacher Yalo Kipungi said this during the graduation of 11 teachers on Friday where they received certificates in basic Microsoft Office.
Kipungi said the teachers took up the training because it was important for them to be well-equipped.
He said the 11 teachers were trained by an information technology lecturer from Sacred Heart Teacher College who was also a board member of New Erima Primary School.
Kipungi said as a head teacher, he believed in teacher development.
He said when teachers were well-equipped with the right skills and knowledge, they would impart these skills and knowledge to their students.
“New Erima Primary School received 21 computers from National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop a few years ago,” he said, adding that those computers would now be put to good use as teachers now had some knowledge on how to use them.
He said New Erima Primary School would be junior high school next year so more of those types of training were important for teachers.
Kipungi said the 11 teachers’ training was held for four months, including weekends, till they graduated on Friday.
