Official urges teachers to be role models

East New Britain education adviser Hubert Wangun has urged teachers to be role models and abide by rules.
Wangun said teachers should be teaching children basic principles of discipline.
He was at the launching of a school learning improvement plan (SLIP), school behavioural management plan (SBMP) and school disaster risk management plan (SDRMP) last Thursday
Wangun said all the plans should capture the dreams and the vision of the Government.
The behavioural management plan policy is to govern the behaviour of children.
The SLIP plans are to be implemented over a three-year period underlined in the six focus areas, which schools must achieve within three years.
“We are privileged to launch the three policies which are simple plans developed by the teachers and organising committees,” he said.
“The three plans launched will bring quality education to the students, therefore, I urge stakeholders of all schools in Gazelle as well as ENB to work in partnership.”
Wangun said the attitude of children had changed and the behavioural management policy would never be a policy if there were “attitude problems”.
“Attitude should match the mentality as good knowledge and bad attitude will never make a person prosper in society,” Wangun said.
