Official warns businesses to be wary of opportunists

THE East New Britain provincial commerce division is urging businesses in the province to be wary of opportunists.
Commerce adviser Henry Tavul said there were individuals and groups who were conducting criminal activities by observing daily activities of major business houses with the intent of robbing them.
Tavul said that following the recent armed robbery of a contractor that was engaged on the New Britain Highway, in which more than K8000 was taken.
“It is not a normal occurrence here where we have businesses being robbed but it is surely a trend that is beginning to rise,” he said. “And businesses are urged to be careful as there are some individuals and groups who are observing the routines of businesses and how they operate daily.
