EMPLOYEES of Oil Search Limited have recently donated cartons of food and detergents
worth nearly K3000 to the Cheshire disAbility Services in Port Moresby.
Cheshire disAbility Services general manager Benard Ayieko said the employees demonstrated the true spirit of giving and aspirations of the Melanesian culture of looking after one another which was often embraced and practised by a majority of citizens and non-citizens in PNG.
He said: “Our Respite Care and Protection programme which looks after 20 fulltime disabled residents, received assorted food, non-food items and cash contributed by the staff of Oil Search. This was in response to a Food Basket Appeal which Cheshire introduced in the last four months, specifically for the food and non-food items which are often
needed in constant supply on a daily basis.
The products, which included dry foods and tinned protein, will support the residents for the next two months.
“On behalf of the Cheshire service users, the staff and the board, I would like to thank Oil Search staff for their overwhelming response to our Food Basket Appeal,” Ayieko said.
Oil Search executive general manager for Stakeholder Engagement Gerea Aopi said the company “has a genuine commitment to ensuring our impact in Papua New Guinea goes well beyond our position as the country’s largest oil and gas company and one of its largest non-government employers and investors.
