Oil Search leads as community contributor

OIL Search has again been recognised as a corporate leader in community contributions and activities by an independent study.
According to the 2019 Giving Large Report that was recently published, Oil Search was the top-performing energy company out of the 50 largest Australian Securities Exchange listed companies and came in third overall ahead of Woolworths and Rio Tinto.
The report was compiled by Strive Philanthropy and analysed publicly available reports of the companies surveyed, compiling their community investment statistics to create an overall view of where Corporate Australia sits in that area.
Oil Search in a statement noted that last year, the company contributed over K1.5 billion in social economic contributions in Papua New Guinea, including K218 million in community development programmes and K818 million for the supply of goods and services from PNG-owned suppliers and contractors.
Managing director Peter Botten said most of the community programmes being supported by Oil Search played a vital role in the economic and social development of PNG and were aimed at helping improve development outcomes for the local people.
