Oil Search listed among Dow Jones’ top performing firms

OIL Search’s sustainability performance over the past 12 months has been recognised by its inclusion in the 2021 Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI).
According to Oil Search, this inclusion ranks the company among top performing oil and gas upstream and integrated companies on the DJSI Australia for corporate sustainability and environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting.
The company was ranked in the 92nd percentile of all oil and gas upstream and integrated participants, with an improved score of 71/100, up 11 per cent in 2020.
Companies were selected for inclusion in the DJSI, S&P 500 ESG and several other sustainability indices in part based on their results in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA).
Manjit Jus, global head of ESG research at S&P Global said: “We congratulate Oil Search for being included in the DJSI for Australia.
“A DJSI distinction is a reflection of being a sustainability leader in your industry.
“The record number of companies participating in the 2021 S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment is testament to the growing movement for ESG disclosure and transparency.”
Oil Search executive vice-president Leon Buskens, told attendees at the recent PNG Mining & Petroleum Conference that: “Inclusion in the DJSI Australia is an outstanding achievement for Oil Search and reflects our absolute commitment to sustainability and our ambition to be the preferred energy company for all stakeholders.”
Oil Search’s sustainability strategy would see company focus its efforts under a seven-pillar sustainability model for action; with a series of clear commitments on climate; environment; community; health and safety; people, integrity; and, economic sustainability to deliver short to medium term sustainable outcomes.
