OIL Search Ltd has pledged its continued support of the Daffodil Corporate Golf Challenge, which is held annually to raise funds for the Port Moresby Cancer Relief Society (POMCRS).

Executive general manager, external affairs and sustainability, Gerea Aopi reiterated the company’s support at the launching of the 2013 event on Monday.

“I invite valuable supporters to join and help raise funds for a worthy cause at this golf challenge that would be held on Aug 23 at the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club,” he said.

Aopi presented K25,000 to POMCRS to mark the event, which is now in its 11th year.

“A notable achievement was the opening of a dedicated Cancer Ward (4C) at the Port Moresby General Hospital with funds raised from the first Daffodil Golf Day in 2003.

“The POMCRS continues to help sustain it, together with the help of many generous organisations and individuals.

“Our partnership with those who had supported the event each year enabled us to provide K50,000 towards the Half-Way House Project in Lae,” Aopi said.

“The project is an initiative of oncologist Dr John Niblett of the National Cancer Treatment Centre (NCTC) and the PNGCRS in Lae to help accommodate cancer patients.”
