THREE new directors have been appointed to the board of Ok Tedi Mining Ltd including new chairman Dr Roger Higgins.
The appointment of the three directors was made by the majority shareholder, Kumul Minerals Ok Tedi Ltd, which owns 67 per cent of the company.
They are Nellie James who serves as the Kumul Minerals Holdings Ltd chairman, Bonny Ninai who serves as the KMOTL chairman and Dr John Kuwimb who is the Kumul Minerals Holdings Ltd acting managing director.
Higgins replaces Sir Moi Avei who retired four months ago. He has been serving on the board as an independent director since 2014, and as chairman of the board’s safety, health, environment and community committee.
He was also a former manager of OTML’s environment department, led its strategy and logistics teams, and served as managing director of Ok Tedi from 1997 to 2001.
OTML managing director and chief executive officer Musje Werror said: “Given his extensive international mining experience in senior executive roles working in Australia, Canada, Chile, PNG and the United States, we look forward to Dr Higgins’ stewardship.”
