OKAPA district, in Eastern Highlands, expects more tangible development following the launching of a five-year plan.

The 2013-17 plan has 12 sectors in line with the Government’s Alotau Accord development priorities.

Presenting the plan to the National Planning Minister Charles Abel last week, Okapa MP Isaac Waigavara said the district did not have any development plan in the past 30 years.

The plan identifies 10 impact projects to be undertaken including the upgrading of feeder roads, health, education, agriculture, law and justice, subsidising school fees, rehabilitation of schools and hospitals, assisting farmers, plus providing power and water supplies.
