WHEN JDA Wokman Velosi employee Martha Okoa takes annual leave this month, she will embark on a holiday with a civic purpose and represent Papua New Guinea on the international stage.
Okoa – a senior contracts officer for PNG’s recruitment specialists, JDA Wokman Velosi – has been selected to represent the country as a peace ambassador for the 24th Asian-Pacific Children’s Convention (APCC) in Fukuoka, Japan.
The APCC is a civic organisation funded by local governments.  It embraces the concept of cultural interaction among children from different backgrounds and countries, working to promote world peace and cultivate an appreciation of differences and similarities.
A former junior APCC delegate, Okoa said the movement worked to foster friendships at every level and promoted understanding in and between participating countries, primarily in the Asia-Pacific region.
