JERRY Olto is the Mt Hagen winner of The National’s Footy Tips competition.

Olto, who comes from Talis village in the Kundiawa district, Chimbu, was a delighted man when he fronted at The National’s Mt Hagen office to collect his K500 prizemoney.

Olto is married with two sons and works as a technician at Mondo Plaza in the Western Highlands capital.

He told The National in Mt Hagen yesterday that this was his first time to enter and win a national competition.

He said he was surprised to see his name in the newspaper yesterday.

Olto said the money could not have come at a better time as he had debts to pay.

“This competition is one of best competitions and I commend The National newspaper for that.

“I read The National every day and having competitions like this gives us readers something extra to look forward to.” Olto said because rugby league was a popular sport, many people were keen on tipping which teams would win and following the results in the paper and on TV.

“The best thing about this competition is that it doesn’t cost much to get involved — just the price of the newspaper.”

Olto said the number of cash prizes given out across the country every week was another plus for the competition. He thanked The National for sponsoring the competition and said that he would continue submitting his tips.
