SENIOR bowler Andrew Omae outclassed national champion Peter Juni to win the Goroka Bowling Club men’s triples in the Eastern Highlands capital on Sunday.
Omae’s team comprised experienced hands in the likes of Leslie Hoffman, Timothy Inapero and Navi Anis.
They beat Juni, Noxi Goya (third) and Taikom Sirae (fourth).
Goroka Bowling Club secretary Paul Fiambawe thanked the participating teams and their bowlers for another strong performance.
He congratulated the winners and presented them with prizes.
Others also received prizes for their efforts. Fiambawe said items as prizes were better than cash as they would last longer and be used regularly.
“We are now encouraging items as prizes and awards rather than cash,” he said.
“This would make it easier for businesses houses to sponsor events on our bowling calendar.”
Club president Wilson Unua thanked the bowlers for a good turnout, making the event a success. He assured that a company had been secured to sponsor the upcoming corporate bowling competition.
Unua said the company had committed to providing K20,000 as sponsorship.
