One rule for all public servants?

Letters

LAST week, The National published a report of Department of Personal Management secretary John Kali calling on senior public servants to leave their job if they find themselves charged with a crime and appear in court.
That means those departmental heads and provincial administrators, including district administrators and officers of the public service, must comply with the Public Service general orders.
It is not the case with public servants in Bulolo.
We have a situation where public servants in the district are appearing in the National Court on criminal charges for misappropriation of public funds.
These officers are using district vehicles and public office and in doing so they are undermining the public service general orders.
The people of Bulolo now appeal to the DPM secretary, provincial administrator, and the political leaders to address this issue and not to leave it to the courts.
Ignorance hinders the progress of the district as Bulolo is an economic district and there must be transparency and accountability for better service delivery.
