THE Medium Term Development Plan 3, if implemented well, will see improvement in economic growth and create more jobs, says National Planning and Monitoring Minister Richard Maru.
The plan will be launched on Saturday in Port Moresby by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.
“It entails the key development priorities of the Government and will be financed annually through the Capital Investment budget over the duration of the plan,” Maru said.
“For the first time we are aligning this MTDP 3 to the five-year parliamentary cycle. The overarching goal is to secure our future through inclusive sustainable economic growth.
“In the next five years, we will create opportunities to be part of the exciting journey and benefit from the development of our country.”
Maru said the key strategic objectives were inclusive economic growth, quality infrastructure development, sustainable social development, improved law, justice and national security, improved governance, responsible sustainable development and sustainable population management.
“The government will focus more on growing the economy in the next five years to ensure we generate adequate internal revenues to meet our increasing demands on services.
“We cannot get there by ourselves. We need the support of all our stakeholders to implement this plan successfully.”
