Online platform to improve service

This new development has been a long-time coming, but it has been developed through a partnership with our financial software technology developer Niupay Limited in the past few months.
The MyIRC is an online service that provides functions only available at the counter such as:
  • PAYMENTS – online via scheme cards with all banks and for all tax types;
  • LODGMENTS – taxpayers will be able to make lodgments online on any size of document, significantly reducing counter lodgments and improving workflow;
  • TAX agents management accounts – the platform enables tax agents to manage their clients online and make payments, lodgments on their behalf as authorised tax agents;
  • IDENTIFICATION number (TIN) validity – TINs can be verified online as active or inactive depending on their validity;
  • CERTIFICATE of Compliance (COC) – it can be verified online by paying authorities who have confirmed their identities. It will reduce COC fraud.
  • ONLINE Support Centre – taxpayers, tax agents and registered account holders can now access the support centre and communicate directly with IRC officers for tax-related and general inquiries;
  • OTHER services – the IRC plans to look into other services such as the online applications for TINs etc.

These services will be performed in a cloud platform hosted by Amazon Web Services.
Our well-architected service will constantly be evolving to meet the needs of the tax administration and taxpayers even post-launch as we strive to ensure we have a system that fully meets the taxpayers’ needs and is internationally asymmetrical with best practices and security accreditation.
In the coming weeks, we will be rolling out our services with a fully enabled service platform available for taxpayers in January 2022.

The Government has indicated further support to IRC by investing in the integrated tax management system through a K35 million funding in the 2022 budget, and another K11 million for goods and service tax administration.
The new online tax payment system is expected to add more value to the work Internal revenue commision is doing.
I am happy to see IRC and Customs moving into the e-service space which was the direction he wants Government services to take.
This is to cut down on human interferences and manipulation of these important systems of fees and tax collections.
By the time the country turns 50 years in 2025, all transactions at IRC and Customs should be done digitally.
As part of the support to these two government agencies, 500 allotments under the National Housing Corporation will be given out to government employees, including those of IRC and Customs as more incentive to work better for our country.
