‘Only in Kwikila’

Letters

‘ONLY in Kwikila’ will be a theme I will use to remind the authorities who are responsible for Governance and public service centred in Kwikila or Rigo that what they hear from their workers are far from the truth.
Even if they know the truth but do nothing out of ignorance, well, they will also have themselves scrutinised.
The following are some of these issues:
l Children of public servants have overtaken their parents by driving Z and P plate vehicles around town without respect for authority;
l these vehicles are used for family business more than official duties;
l we have no proper public water and sanitation mechanisms though we have a CEO;
l some public servants walk around, sit at markets and under rain trees, ride around in their private vehicles doing nothing yet get full pay;
l police in Kwikila are so busy with manning petty road blocks while people get terrorised by drunkards at the market;
l market fee collections seem to be done by so called landowners. Anyone from that particular village can walk in and collect fees;
l so much money collected in fees yet sellers sit out in the hot sun and in the mud when it rains;
l you can be a political mandated leader and still acquire contracts even in millions, more interestingly when you are a chairman of works in CPG;
l you can sexually abuse young children but the law will turn a blind eye;
l you will kill your spouse yet you can walk round freely in Kwikila;
l Kwikila is one of the filthiest towns in PNG though we have a health inspector; and,
l Member for Rigo is yet to build his house in Kwikila though he promised during 2017 election campaign people of Kwikila and Rigo let’s get rid of such practices.
If the authorities cannot do anything it will be because they are compromised.
We need change and let’s speak, write and advocate for the better tomorrow.
For those in authority remember we are watching.
