A SPECIAL police operation code-named Weeding Grass to curb marijuana in Chimbu is gaining momentum as it moves into remote areas.
Last week, members of the operation moved into Kii village, along the Kundiawa-Gembogl road, and uprooted 160 mature plants.
Provincial police commander Supt Augustine Wampe said they arrested a man who surrendered to them.
Wampe said the man showed them the plants in his garden.
Operation coordinator Detective Yatefa Welis said his men were determined to stop illegal drug cultivation.
Wampe appealed to youths and producers of the drug to surrender.
“I appeal to youths involved in marijuana cultivation to give up because the operation is continuing and police will catch up with suspects,” Wampe said.
