Opposition will still file vote of no-confidence motion: Maisu

THE Opposition insists it will file a vote of no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, Opposition deputy leader Timothy Masiu says.
“We in the Opposition are representing the eight million people of PNG. We will still move the vote of no confidence because we are standing for the rights of our people,” he said.
“If we allow this government to rule for the next five years, we should forget about PNG. It is being destroyed.
“Why should Parliament be adjourned to May 7? Is this to avoid the vote of no confidence?
“We are still moving the vote of no confidence come the next Parliament sitting.”
Masiu said the Government was stopping Bougainville’s money it needed for June’s referendum.
“This is one of the many issues the Opposition is fighting for and we have faith in God, who knows the right timing to change the government,” he said
Masiu called on the people of Eastern Highlands to support the move their Governor Peter Numu was taking to support the Opposition.
Opposition strongman Kerenga Kua said most of the first-time parliamentarians in the government would realise the mistakes of the government after spending 14 to 18 months with it.
“We give them the benefit of doubt. I thank the people of Eastern Highlands for giving us a strong and decisive leader who can make decisions in the best interest of the people,” Kua said.
Kua told the people that when Numu crossed the floor to the Opposition, he came to team up with like-minded MPs who were determined to change Papua New Guinea.
“The point we pursue is when K100 is targeted for Goroka, you get only K70, where is the K30? We are talking about this,” Kua said.
Opposition MPs accompanying Numu to Goroka were Masiu, Kua, Allan Bird (East Sepik Governor), Peter Isoaimo (Kairuku-Hiri), Bryan Kramer (Madang) and Dr Tom Lino (Wabag).
