Orchids’ Humeu, Pipi help Magani beat Butterflies

Sports

PAPUA New Guinea Orchids vice-captain Carol Humeu and Priscilla Pipi bagged doubles to help Magani beat Butterflies 22-14 in round 20 of the Port Moresby Rugby League women’s competition on Sunday.
Both sides started the match without a number of their regulars, which is becoming a common sight in the women’s competition after the Southern Confederation Championships at Kwikila in Rigo, Central, recently.
Some players are understood to have gone their separate ways which has affected their respective teams with three matches remaining before the top-eight playoffs.
Humeu and Pipi were in the thick of it, with Madeline Tipas converting three of their four tries.
Butterflies’ tries came through Lancy Laki (double) and Nisella Ravu. Rose Sine converted one goal.
